The world of work is constantly changing; it never stands still. For instance, the top 10 ‘in demand’ jobs of 2010 did not exist in 2004. The main reason for this is the fact that the impact of new technology on the workplace was largely unpredicted. Imagine if young people and adults could have been given this information back in 2004. They could have planned their career path accordingly.
It has been stated that 65% of primary school children will eventually find employment in a job that has not been created yet. The accuracy of these figures is open for debate, but undoubtedly they cast light on an interesting topic.
Here at CASCAID, we aim to give young people and adults the most up-to-date careers information available. As well as researching the latest information on current careers, we are now looking at the world of future careers. Some of our students may not enter the job market for another 10 years, after school, college, and university, and so we need to predict what the job market might be like, and inform them accordingly.
